Denpasar – PT Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID) will accelerate the development of the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone located in Serangan, Denpasar, Bali. This move follows a request from the National Council for Special Economic Zones (Denas KEK) for BTID to fulfil investor commitments and speed up the development of planned projects.

"We hope the development of the Kura Kura Bali SEZ can be realized soon, according to the targets, while still prioritizing sustainability and the welfare of the local community," said the Secretary General of the National Council for SEZs, Rizal Edwin Manansang, in a written statement received by DetikBali on Monday (March 10,2025). In line with the acceleration of the development, access to the Kura Kura Bali SEZ area will be regulated to ensure smooth operations and safety for all parties. This includes the addition of safety hoardings in almost all areas affected by the development push.

"The public should not worry, as access to the eight temples within the area will remain open for religious worship. Small-scale fishermen from Serangan can continue their activities as usual, UID Campus will remain operational, and the Starbucks coffee shop will continue serving customers as normal," he added.BTID, together with several investors, is also discussing various development initiatives claimed to prioritize sustainable practices. These efforts aim to support high-quality tourism in line with the implementation of the Kerthi Bali Economic Roadmap. The Kura Kura Bali SEZ is projected to become a new economic hub in Bali. The area will be equipped with an international marina, The Grand Outlet Bali (GOB), ACS Bali, UID Lodge, International Mangrove Research Center (IMRC), and several hotels and villas currently under construction. Moreover, this development acceleration is part of Bali's new economic transformation strategy, which targets a tenfold increase in Bali residents’ per capita income to US$ 41,400 per year or approximately Rp 51.75 million per month.
