Kura Kura Bali SEZ Provides Mobile Library in Serangan for Students

DENPASAR — A mobile library in Serangan was brought to SD Negeri 2 Serangan through an initiative by PT Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID), the management entity of the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone (SEZ), on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Denpasar City Library and Archives Office and Gramedia to support reading interest and strengthen literacy among students in Serangan.

BTID Head of Communications Zefri Alfaruqy said the activity formed part of the PARTA (Perpustakaan di Ruang Terbuka/Open-Space Library) program initiated by the Denpasar City Library and Archives Office.

The initiative was also held as part of the 2026 Library Visit Day commemoration.

More than 60 Grade 6 students enthusiastically explored 711 books covering general reading and knowledge, delivered directly to the school by the mobile library vehicle.

The Denpasar City Library and Archives Office officially recorded the PARTA collaboration with BTID at SDN 2 Serangan on September 23, describing the program as an effort to bring reading materials closer to students and strengthen a culture of literacy. Denpasar Library and Archives

Mobile Library in Serangan Brings Literacy Closer to Students

Zefri Alfaruqy said the collaboration was intended to make engaging reading materials more accessible to students in Serangan Traditional Village and encourage stronger reading habits.

“Our collaboration with the Denpasar City Library and Archives Office and SD Negeri 2 Serangan is an initiative to bring literacy access closer to children in Serangan in a more enjoyable way. We hope the presence of this mobile library can spark their curiosity and encourage students to develop a habit of reading,” Zefri Alfaruqy said on Friday, September 25, 2026.

The mobile library in Serangan also provides students with an alternative learning environment where reading can be experienced in a more accessible and enjoyable setting.

Supporting SD Negeri 2 Serangan

SD Negeri 2 Serangan Principal Ni Made Depi Juliantini welcomed the first collaboration, particularly as the school’s own library is still undergoing renovation.

“I am very happy, especially because this is the first collaboration of its kind that we have received at SD Negeri 2. The children were genuinely happy and enthusiastic about the visit from the regional library, particularly because our own library will not be fully available until December as construction is still underway,” Ni Made Depi Juliantini said.

The mobile library therefore provides an additional reading resource for students while the school’s permanent library facilities remain unavailable.

Books Remain an Important Foundation for Literacy

Juli Artana, Coordinator of the Elementary School Mobile Library at the Denpasar City Library and Archives Office, together with operational staff member I Putu Gde Sumantri Wikarma Putra, welcomed the collaboration initiated by BTID.

“The primary purpose of the mobile library is to respond to changing times, as children are becoming increasingly attached to gadgets. We want to emphasize to them that books remain an important foundation for literacy,” Juli Artana said.

Through the initiative, BTID, the school, and the Denpasar City Library and Archives Office hope to sustain children’s enthusiasm for reading through an engaging and accessible learning environment.

The collaboration is also expected to create opportunities for the mobile library in Serangan and similar literacy initiatives to return in the future.
