Denpasar – The IDB Bali Student Installation Exhibition was presented at the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone through GRAVITATION x OBSERIES 2026. The art festival showcased 17 innovative visual installations created by Visual Communication Design students from Institut Desain dan Bisnis (IDB) Bali.
The event took place at Bali Abode Gallery, UID Bali Campus, Kura Kura Bali SEZ, from 10 to 12 July 2026. It provided a platform for emerging creative talents to present their ideas through art, design, technology, and material exploration.
Carrying the theme “KIJAAA?”, inspired by the Balinese expressions “Kija Ne? Kija To? Kija Gen Dadi!”, the festival invited visitors to question boundaries and discover new possibilities through art, design, and collaboration.
IDB Bali Student Installation Exhibition Presents 17 Visual Works
Each installation featured in GRAVITATION x OBSERIES 2026 represented a different idea, material exploration, technological application, and visual approach.
The works demonstrated the ability of IDB Bali Visual Communication Design students to translate contemporary issues into meaningful and interactive three-dimensional installations.
IDB Bali Vice Rector I Ni Komang Prasiani expressed her appreciation to PT Bali Turtle Island Development, or BTID, as the developer and operator of Kura Kura Bali SEZ, for supporting collaboration in art and education.
According to Prasiani, the exhibition space enabled students to express their creativity while presenting the outcomes of their academic learning to a wider audience.
“This is a regular activity where students apply the knowledge they have gained during their studies. They experiment and develop works that can be experienced and appreciated by the public,” Prasiani said.
Ngeling/Ngeling Installation Highlights Environmental Conservation in Bali
One of the works that attracted attention was “Ngeling/Ngeling,” an installation created by Kuinda, a Visual Communication Design student at IDB Bali.
The installation presented a narrative about environmental conservation and the ecological challenges currently affecting Bali.
Kuinda explained that visualisation in design should carry a deeper meaning rather than merely focus on visual appearance.
“Creating a work without meaning is like creating an empty shell. Through this particular installation, we wanted to explore culture and the issues currently happening in our surrounding environment,” Kuinda said.
Kuinda also appreciated Kura Kura Bali SEZ for providing a creative space where students could present their work to the public.
The exhibitions held within the area offer students opportunities to learn, engage with audiences, and expand their experience beyond the classroom.
Kura Kura Bali SEZ Provides Space for Creative Ideas to Grow
Head of the Communications Department at Kura Kura Bali SEZ, Zefri Alfaruqy, said the management was pleased to provide a platform for IDB Bali students to explore and present their creative works.
Zefri observed that the installations were not only visually engaging but also conveyed meaningful messages related to culture, the environment, social life, and technological development.
“We hope this area can become a meeting point where bold ideas can grow, take root, and inspire all of us to continue creating,” Zefri said.
Supporting the Regeneration of Creative Talents
Secretary of the Bali Regional Executive Board of the National Creative Economy Movement, or Gekrafs Bali, I Komang Manik Sumardika, said the IDB Bali Student Installation Exhibition represented an important step in supporting the regeneration of creative talent.
“We hope this exhibition will further motivate students to continue creating. We also hope that the growing public interest in the creative economy can become a driving force for the national economy, particularly in Bali,” Manik said.
GRAVITATION x OBSERIES 2026 took place from 10 to 12 July 2026, starting at 9 a.m. Central Indonesia Time.
Beyond providing a space to appreciate student works, the festival also encouraged dialogue about the future of art, design, and Indonesia’s creative industries.
Through this collaboration, Kura Kura Bali SEZ continues to strengthen its role as a meeting point for education, creativity, culture, and innovation.
