The Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has once again become a strategic cross-sector dialogue platform through a series of activities that combine technological innovation with the strengthening of leadership character. The event was held at UID Bali Campus on Saturday (April 18, 2026).

The main forum, titled “The Power of AI: Transforming Sustainable Enterprise and Entrepreneurship,” was organized by the Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center (TSEA) alongside the graduation of the Happy Digital X (HDX) Cohort 3.0 program. This program is a 12-week executive education course focusing on digital transformation, leadership, and sustainability.

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, emphasized the importance of responsible artificial intelligence (AI) regulation during the forum. “The need for strong and responsible AI regulation is no longer optional, but an urgent necessity,” she stated.
She added that the government is currently preparing a national AI roadmap along with an ethical framework through cross-sector collaboration. According to her, strengthening regulatory aspects is key to ensuring that technological advancements remain aligned with public interest.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Entrepreneurship at the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, M. Riza A. Damanik, highlighted the importance of technology adoption among businesses, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). “The future of the economy depends on the ability to implement technology with discipline and creativity,” he said.

The forum also featured several global technology leaders who discussed Bali’s potential as a hub for AI ecosystem development. Head of Technology at AWS Indonesia, Donald Tirtaatmadja, expressed his commitment to supporting Bali as a global technology conference destination, including the development of the Coders Village and AI governance forums.

Other speakers, such as Amit Gupta and Dr. Peter D. Finn, noted that Bali holds a strategic position in advancing an inclusive and sustainable AI-driven entrepreneurship movement. This approach is considered to be in line with the Tri Hita Karana philosophy, which emphasizes harmony between people, the environment, and spirituality.

On another front, the United In Diversity (UID) Foundation also conducted a leadership workshop titled “Leading with HEART,” involving 45 high school students in Bali. The program focused on shaping young leaders through empathy and self-awareness.

Director of UID Bali Campus, Shobi Lawalata, underscored the importance of balancing intellect and empathy in leadership in the digital era. “Future leaders must be able to align the mind, heart, and actions,” she stated.

The series of activities was further enriched by the Regional Practice Round of the World Scholar’s Cup, bringing together students from various international schools. The competition aims to develop critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills among young participants.

Held in conjunction with Tumpek Landep Day, the event symbolized the synergy between technology and spiritual values. The Kura Kura Bali SEZ continues to reinforce its position as a collaborative innovation hub that is not only technology-driven but also committed to character development and sustainability.
