Mitsubishi Estate Group and Grand Outlet Bali Investama (GOBI), a subsidiary of PT Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID), signed a cooperation agreement to develop a shopping center, The Grand Outlet Bali, in Bali's Kura Kura Special Economic Zone (KEK), Friday (15/12/2023). The Grand Outlet Bali is designed to be a leading and international shopping destination, providing a variety of luxury brands from a wide range of clothing products, bags and luggage, accessories and more. The project is built on an area of 4.7 hectares, with a total investment of around US$100 million or the equivalent of Rp 1.5 trillion. The shopping center is inspired by the Bhinneka Village concept, which means a village for a diverse community. Featuring a variety of leisure venues with scenic views and beachfront walkways that cater to domestic and international visitors, fashion enthusiasts, foodies, and families.

The Grand Outlet Bali is located just 15 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport, and between Nusa Dua and Sanur, which are the main tourist areas in Bali. This collaboration between BTID and Mitsubishi Estate in Bali follows the construction of The Grand Outlet East Jakarta, Karawang. Managing Director of Mitsubishi Estate Asia Pte. Ltd. Koji Segawa said, The Grand Outlet Bali will provide added value to KEK Kura Kura Bali, because it offers an exclusive shopping experience. KEK Kura Kura Bali itself is an integrated development area that aims to encourage economic development and investment in Bali, Indonesia.

There are fiscal and non-fiscal incentives for investors who start businesses in the region. In addition, the Kura Kura Bali SEZ area will develop international standard tourism activities. "Including marinas, hotels and resorts; educational institutions with the best facilities; healthy lifestyle centres and other activities to generate economic growth while preserving the mangrove forests in the area," Segawa explained. President Director of PT Bali Turtle Island Development Tuti Hadiputranto welcomed the development of The Grand Outlet Bali and is excited about the project as it will bring a new vibrancy to the Kura Kura Bali SEZ. She expects visitors to the area to savor Bali's beautiful culture and enjoy the beauty of its landscape, while shopping at this modern, upscale destination. "Potential investors in the area are carefully curated to ensure Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone becomes a quality tourist destination in Bali," said Tuti. For the record, Indonesia's National SEZ Council has designated Kura Kura Bali as a SEZ with the aim of improving economic development and the quality of life of the Balinese people; as well as improving the quality of Bali tourism as an international tourist destination.
