This event was made possible through the synergy between the community and various partners, including support from PT Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID), the developer of the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone. BTID provided access to the event through the SEZ area with proper management systems in place to ensure the smooth running of the competition and the safety of the participants, especially considering that development work is still ongoing in the area.
"This is one of many activities we’ve supported alongside Serangan Board Riders, and what touched me the most was seeing the children's enthusiasm today. Serangan Beach has waves of international competition quality, but what’s even more extraordinary is the youth and the community behind it," said Zakki Hakim, Head of Communications at BTID, during his remarks at the end of the event.
This moment also serves as a reminder of the community's success in nurturing talented surfers who have competed on the international stage, such as I Made Pajar Ariyana, known as Pajar. The young surfer from Serangan Village, born in 2005, has made Indonesia proud in several world-class competitions, including the Asian Surfing Championship in the Maldives, the WSL Manokwari Pro QS 1000 in West Papua, and the WSL Junior World Championship in La Union, Philippines.
Pajar, who began surfing at the age of six on this beach, is living proof that the Serangan Board Riders community has built an environment capable of producing world-class surfers. The synergy between the local community and the area’s management, Serangan has once again proven that its waves do more than crash ashore—they carry the hopes and dreams of a Serangan village to the world.
